Geological Time: Wearable Geology

Time, in its vastness, is the silent partner at my bench. While I spend my days working with heat and flame, my inspiration often reaches back millions of years to the slow, rhythmic movements of the earth. My work is a study in that geological patience—capturing the marks of pressure, erosion, and time in a form you can hold in your hand.

The Art of the Cut: Lapidary and Intentionality

To truly honor the natural character of these materials, I often step away from the flame to cut and polish the stones myself. This lapidary work is an essential part of my 16-year journey; it is where I begin the conversation with the material, uncovering the layers of history hidden within a raw mineral. By shaping the stone from its raw state, I ensure that every piece is formed with intention and carries an authenticity that mass production can never replicate.

Stones Shaped by Hand

My personal connection to the stones I set is most evident in the pieces I have hand-cut and polished:

• Shadow of the Earth: This silver pendant features a labradorite cabochon that I cut and polished myself to highlight its deep blue and green flashes. It is a piece that plays with light and shadow, grounding ethereal color in a substantial, handcrafted form.
• Groundwater Drop Necklace: I shaped this natural jasper stone to reveal its complex story of layered reds, browns, and blue-gray inclusions. The surface carries the physical marks of geological pressure, set simply in silver to let the stone’s history speak for itself.
• Copper Quartz Ring: In this piece, I polished a natural quartz stone to showcase the raw copper inclusions that thread through its translucent white base. It is a one-of-a-kind celebration of material honesty, where the copper veining creates a contrast that can never be duplicated.

Capturing the Earth’s Narrative

Whether I am layering glass to mimic stone strata or hand-polishing a fossil, my goal is to create jewelry that feels elemental and grounded.

• The Tidal Strata Pendant: Featuring fossilized opal with natural bands of blue and tan, this silver frame is textured and asymmetrical to echo shoreline curves and erosion.
• Tectonic Stack Pendant: This piece utilizes layered blocks of fused glass—blue, green, and violet—to resemble the rhythmic stacking of geological currents.
