For 16 years, I have worked with materials that demand absolute control and patience. However, in my kinetic series, I intentionally release that control, allowing the jewelry to find its own rhythm.

A centerpiece of this philosophy is the Kinetic Glass Bead Ring. This one-of-a-kind sculptural piece is cast in sterling silver and features a handmade glass bead suspended between brass and copper bails. It is carefully engineered to rotate freely, introducing a tactile, interactive element that invites the wearer to touch and play with the piece throughout the day. This balance of structure and motion is a testament to an honest process where time and skill meet.

The Art of Suspension and Space

Motion isn’t always about spinning; sometimes it is about the suggestion of movement through space and tension.

• The Kinetic Bead Ring: This silver ring features a suspended brass bead that appears to float above the band. It emphasizes lightness and restraint, utilizing empty space rather than weight to create a delicate piece that demands attention.
• The Marble That Chose to be a Comet: This sculptural pendant began as a borosilicate glass marble before it “refused to stay put”. I drew the molten glass into a spiral shape that feels caught mid-thought—neither static nor rushed.

Every moving part in a ZMJStudio piece is a result of intentionality. Whether it is the Lariat necklace with its cascading charms that shift with your stride or the Que? pendant—an interlocking glass knot designed to be viewed from multiple angles—the goal is to create a grounded connection between the object and the wearer.
